Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2 June 2026

This policy explains how Textbackly (operated by Challis Samu, a sole trader based in New Zealand — “we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects personal information. It applies to our website and the Textbackly missed-call text-back service.

1. Who this covers

Two groups of people:

  • Our customers — businesses who sign up for Textbackly.
  • Callers — people who phone, and then text with, a business that uses Textbackly.

2. What we collect

From customers: your name, email address, phone number, business details, the message templates you set up, and payment details (handled by Stripe — we don’t store your card number).

From callers: your phone number, the date and time of a missed call, and the content of the text messages you exchange with the business through our service.

3. How we use it

  • To run the service — detecting missed calls and sending and receiving text messages on a business’s behalf.
  • To draft suggested replies (some replies are drafted with AI and reviewed by the business owner before sending).
  • To bill customers, provide support, and improve the service.

4. Text messages & opt-out

Businesses authorise us to text their missed callers on their behalf. Every message is a direct reply to a call you made and includes a way to opt out. Reply STOP at any time and we will stop texting you immediately. We comply with New Zealand’s Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007.

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell personal information. We share it only with the providers we use to run the service:

  • Stripe — payment processing
  • TNZ — sending and receiving text messages in New Zealand
  • Twilio — phone numbers and call handling
  • Supabase — secure database hosting
  • Anthropic — AI used to draft suggested replies

We may also disclose information where required by law.

6. Storage & security

Your information is stored securely with the providers above and protected with reasonable safeguards. Some providers store data outside New Zealand (for example, in the United States); they are bound by their own data-protection obligations.

7. Your rights

Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 you can ask to see the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. Email hello@buildorb.com and we’ll help.

8. How long we keep it

We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide the service and meet our legal obligations, then delete or anonymise it.

9. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date above shows the latest version.
